What is
the issue with each foot problem?
Take
a look at your feet and see what they say about your health.
It is not usually
known, but our feet are amazing diagnostic tools we can use to find clues that
potentially point to various health problems. You don't need to be a doctor to
understand what your feet say about your health. It is important to know which
warning signs to look for, when/while walking.
Here, we
have a list of 12 signs or symptoms on your feet that can be of concern to your
overall health.
1. Hairless
Feet
Hairless feet are a
sign of serious circulatory problems.
Most
people, regardless of gender, have a few hair on their feet, especially on the
toes. But if you find that your feet are getting smoother and you no longer
have hair in the area, this can be a sign of serious circulatory problems.
The
disease is usually caused by a cardiovascular disease, such as atherosclerosis,
which makes your arteries harder to pump blood into the heart. When this
happens, your heart enters a recovery state where blood reaches the more vital
organs such as your legs and feet decrease blood supply.
2. Spoon Nails
or Dipped Toenails
Spoon nails are
associated with iron deficiency.
Spoon
nail is a nail condition in which the nails become abnormally thin and lose
their convex shape, becoming flat or even concave in a spoon. This is tucked in
the middle of the nail and the edges are raised to give it a round appearance.
It
is associated with iron deficiency, known as anemia, the most common blood
disorder in the world. When iron deficiency is left untreated, it can lead to a
number of additional health problems such as fatigue,
pale skin,
shortness of breath and chest pain, dizziness, and headaches.
3. Long-Term
Wounds
Diabetes affects foot
ulcers in different ways.
If
you have a wound that appears on your foot, it takes a long time to heal or is
there permanently and it may look like an open wound or eczema, then this can
be a sign of diabetes. These types of wounds are called diabetic wounds. Over
time, high blood sugar and high fats such as triglycerides can damage your
nerves. This can make your body hard to heal, especially on your feet.
Diabetes
affects foot ulcers in many ways, and it is important for people with diabetes
to understand the potentially severe consequences of foot ulcers and untreated
wounds. Unfortunately, for some people with diabetes, the end result of a foot
ulcer can be amputation.
Urgent
medical care in the event of a wound or open wound.
Work with a medical
doctor to better control your diabetes.
4. Cold Legs
Lack of blood
circulation causes cold in the hands and feet.
Even
though cold feet are a very common occurrence among all, if the feet are
abnormally cold for no particular reason, this can be a sign of thyroid
dysfunction. Low thyroid activity can be associated with excess homocysteine - an amino acid that is associated with heart disease, poor
blood circulation, and very rigid blood vessels.
This
is because the essential nutrients in the blood vessels do not reach the
organs. Lack of blood circulation to organs such as the hands and feet can also
appear as chronic fungal infections.
5. Yellow
Nails
Improper hygiene is
one of the major causes of fungal infections in the toenails.
Thicker
nails than normal and yellow are the cause of yeast infection. Improper hygiene
is one of the major causes of fungal infections in the toenails. These
infections are usually caused by personal habits, such as wearing shoes made of
non-respiratory material that cause sweat to mix with bacteria.
Wearing
sweaty socks for a long time or barefoot in public places can also lead to
fungal infections. If you think you have an infection, talk to your doctor
about treatment options, including over-the-counter products that may be
helpful.
6.
Neuropathy
Anesthesia in the feet
is one of the complications of diabetes.
Neuropathy
is one of the long-term complications of diabetes and affects the nerves. Our
nerves have the task of communicating messages between the brain and the body,
which activates our senses and makes us touch, feel, see, hear and move. So if
these nerves are damaged, they can cause problems in several parts of the body.
If
you have lost the ability to feel pain in your legs and feet, tingling /
numbness, or temperature sensitivity, talk to your doctor to see what you can
do to improve your diabetes treatment.
7. Foot Joint
Pain
Foot pain is known as
rheumatoid arthritis.
Foot
pain, also known as rheumatoid arthritis, is a condition in which your immune
system mistakenly attacks your body tissue. It usually affects the lining of
the joints and causes painful swelling that can eventually lead to bone erosion
and joint deformity.
Inflammation
associated with rheumatoid arthritis is what causes damage to the other parts
of the body, even if the disease can be controlled with modern medicine, but
severe cases of rheumatoid arthritis can still cause various physical
disabilities.
8. Flaky Legs
With antifungal
creams, the athlete's foot can be easily treated.
The
athlete's foot is an inflammatory skin condition that affects only the soles of
the foot and the skin between the toes. It usually looks red and flaky and may
be covered in smaller blisters. Despite the name given, it can affect both
athletes and non-athletes alike.
It
is usually caused by a contagious fungal infection called "tinea Pedi’s", which can be caused by
barefoot walking in public places such as gyms, public pools, public baths.
Using
antifungal creams can help the athlete's foot cure easily, but if you also have
diabetes or a weakened immune system, it's best to see a doctor.
9. Toe Sticking
Clubbing toes can also
be a sign of a variety of diseases.
Stubborn
toes are related to certain physical changes in your nails that are the result
of a major illness. Nail sticking refers to curved disease and selective
protrusion of the distal nails of the hands and feet as well as the skin around
the nail bed.
This
can be caused by several diseases related to the lungs and respiratory system
such as lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis or
asbestosis. Clubbing toes can also be a sign of a variety of diseases and
disorders such as different types of cancer,
heart defects, overactive thyroid, inflammation in the
bowel and liver disease.
10. Changing
the Toes Color
Toes discoloration is
one of the symptoms of Reynold's disease.
Toes
which are changing color is a major feature of Reynold's disease. Reynold's
disease is a condition that causes the color of the lower parts of your body,
such as your toes to change in response to temperature or stress, and to
numbness and cold. This is because smaller arteries that distribute blood to your
skin restrict blood circulation to these areas.
During
cold, areas of your skin usually turn white. Then they may turn blue and feel
cold and numb. As the person warms up and the blood circulation improves, the
affected area becomes red after swelling and itching.
If
you have a history of Reynold's disease in your family and you notice a sore toes
or infection in your toes, see a doctor immediately.
11. Red and
Painful Foot Sole
Deep vein thrombosis
usually occurs in people over 50 years of age.
If
you notice that your feet sole are red, painful and even sometimes numb, this
can be a sign of deep vein thrombosis. This is a serious condition that occurs
when a piece of a blood clot disintegrates into the bloodstream and blocks one
of the blood vessels in the lungs. It can cause pain and swelling in the legs
or feet and can cause complications such as pulmonary embolism that can be life
threatening if left untreated.
Deep
vein thrombosis usually occurs in people over 50 years of age, but a family
history of the disease and some lifestyle choices can make it happen sooner.
For example, smokers, overweight people, people with traumatic bone
fractures, or even people who have been sitting for a long time can suffer
from the disease.
If
you think you are suffering from deep vein thrombosis, you should see your
doctor as soon as possible. As mentioned earlier, it can become a more serious
condition (pulmonary embolism) that can prevent your breathing.
12. Deformity
of Legs Feet or Legs
Now a day’s one
of the most common triggers of gout is dehydration and it is very important to
be careful about it.
If you
notice sudden and severe pain in the extremities of the toes and also see that
the toes are slowly deforming, this can be a sign of gout. When you have gout,
there is too much natural uric acid in your body that forms around the joints
and forms urine crystals.
When
your body is deficient in water, it increases the amount of uric acid produced,
leading to hyperuricemia. In healthy people, uric acid flows through the liver
into the bloodstream, where it is excreted in the urine, or passes through the
intestine to regulate the surface. When you have water deficiency, the kidneys
do not function properly and uric acid does not get out of the body through the
bloodstream and it develops around the joints, especially the foot.
If
left untreated, it can cause permanent damage to your joints. So if you think
you are suffering from gout, it is important to consult your doctor immediately
to prevent future problems.
