A
philosophical understanding of events helps us to understand the meaning of
life and the purpose of existence.
During
Corona's or Covid-19 illness,
many philosophical teachings have been re-examined and new questions raised.
An
important feature of this situation is the entry of man into the circle of
understanding the power of science.
It
is reminiscent of the neglect of human pain and suffering, the uniqueness and
domination of formal rationality over the dimensions of modern life.
Sickness
can be placed within evil, pain and suffering, like all evil that has pervaded
the world, but Corona's disease,
in addition to physical and mental suffering, has also shown epistemological
suffering.
The
sorrows and worries that today's human beings have due to the pervasiveness of
the Corona Pandemic outbreak
crisis are different from many other events.
Corona has, in fact, transformed the human biosphere and its epistemological
foundations, changing the way we look at the power of science.
Today's
man, proud of the achievements of formal rationality and technological
advances, imagined that he could overcome anything, as Hegel claimed in his book Elements of the Philosophy of Truth: "Man
has become dominant in nature and the world, and a new intellect." Mankind
has been able to control man's domination of the world, "he said, but with
Corona's arrival, the idea is
changing.
Thus,
Corona is not only a disease, but
also an event that shows us the most basic human bottlenecks and will lead to a
re-understanding of human life, systems of thought, systems of power, theories
of knowledge, and regimes of truth.
Thinkers
can not only think about the physical and mental pain and suffering in this
difficult period, but also about the mental suffering that human beings have
been suffering from before and have not been aware of.
When
Heidegger presented the famous "Question of Technology" article, he
addressed two key issues:
1. Will technology and science be
imposed on us? Will it take us away from our basic instincts and our lives?
2. Can human beings overcome and
prevent this breakthrough that technology has found?
There
is hope in the view of existential philosophers, and that is the return of man
to his fundamental understanding.
The
current situation is due to the fact that man has neglected to strengthen the
foundations of reason. "Seeking help from reason" forces us to
reconstruct the place of morality in human relations in the process of this
endeavor, so that in addition to worrying about our own safety, we are "closer
and kinder" to the "other." Alexander Pushkin is mentioned. He
wrote poetry as a quarantine for cholera:
We seek the help from the wisdom
We treat disease with the power of knowledge
And a time of difficult experiences
We leave behind a family
We will become more refined and wiser
We do not give in to darkness and fear
Rather, we breathe new life into each other
We will get closer and kinder
Therefore,
if this disease can be a punishment for us, it will make us wiser, wiser and
more spiritually kind.
Although
corona disease strengthens
nationalism and increases the role of governments, it also creates the tendency
for human beings to experience a revision of the image of reason.
Understanding
reason again gives people the opportunity to understand that others and their
lives are so valuable that they are closely linked to their lives.
If
in the pre-Cretaceous period the standard of living was calculated by the
profitability of technology and the domination of nature, the post-Cretaceous
period would undoubtedly offer a new idea, and that is a new understanding of
happiness that would be possible in an understanding of rationality and
spirituality.
It
is based on both science and anti-science, and is aimed at deepening and
expanding knowledge and mysticism to prevent environmental degradation,
deforestation, disruption of natural plant and animal ecosystems, industrial
and productive pollution, and water and air pollution.
And
creates the earth. That's why the main message of the post-Craconian era will be:
Let's not destroy the
environment so that humanity can live better and more.
